Body of Lies
As disturbing as it is compelling, Ridley Scott has outdone himself with his first modern-day political thriller, delivering his strongest movie since "Black Hawk Down."

City of Ember
Even if there is a feeling of missed potential in "City of Ember" there's also a great deal to enjoy about it, and it's definitely worth a look. The strange tone it strikes means it won't be to everyone's taste, and if it turns out it's not to yours, you can tell yourself it's not the end of the world and move on.

Happy-Go-Lucky
Strange but wonderful, "Happy-Go-Lucky" is up there with some of Leigh's best movies, driven by riveting performances from Sally Hawkins and Eddie Marsan as polar opposites thrown together.

RocknRolla
Guy Ritchie's latest is not likely to be everyone's cup of tea, as it's rather strange and eccentric even for him at times, but it's a good step back to what made Ritchie's first two movies such classics without necessarily feeling he's backtracking or trying to apologize for his previous two films. If nothing else, it's two hours of fun, unadulterated entertainment like the kind only Guy Ritchie can deliver.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua
No one in "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" seems to care that much. And if they don't care, why should I?

Blindness
Some novels were never meant to be made into movies; apparently, this is one of them, going by the generally dull and horrid way it's been executed.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
A sweet story of young love on the streets of New York thrives on the chemistry between its two young stars, but is marred by the needlessly low-brow comedy added to try to create comedy that appeals to a larger (i.e. dumber) audience.

Eagle Eye
I've seen worse movies than "Eagle Eye"--and recently--but it's been a while since I was this bored during one. It's got a few decent set pieces, even the worst of thrillers will usually have one or two, but I still spent the last twenty minutes looking at my watch more than the screen. Ultimately though, it suffers from the same problem most high concept films have; it's all smoke, but not enough fire.

Eagle Eye: The IMAX Experience
Take one or two good ideas and add a lot of political thriller clichés and you end up with a disappointingly predictable action movie that doesn't necessarily deliver on the promised goods.

Miracle at St. Anna
With such a strong creative force behind this rare look at the Buffalo Soldiers, some might be disappointed that Spike Lee's first foray into war movies spends over two and a half hours wearing out its welcome after such a strong opening.
